Choose a report period or tax year
Show any ProfitClerk report for this tax year, last tax year, or the last 3, 6 or 12 months ending on a month you pick, or custom dates on the Reports page.
Most ProfitClerk reports let you choose the same periods: 3 months, 6 months or 12 months ending on a month you pick, This tax year or Last tax year. Your tax year follows your country and tax profile, so a UK seller's April tax year and a US seller's calendar year both work.
The period picker
At the top right of each report:

- 3 months, 6 months, 12 months: whole calendar months, ending on the current month unless you choose another.
- This tax year: the whole of your current tax year.
- Last tax year: the whole of the tax year before.
When you pick a number of months, a month box appears next to the picker. Choose the last month you want to include and select Show. For example, 3 months ending in June shows April, May and June.
Under each report, a line says what it is based on: the period, the currency and your accounting basis, such as "Tax year 2026-27 · amounts in GBP · Accrual basis".
Which period each report opens on
| Report | Opens on |
|---|---|
| Profit and loss | This tax year |
| Expenses and Mileage | This tax year |
| Breakdowns, Best sellers & slow movers, Sourcing | 12 months |
| Fee breakdown, Tax collected, Promoted Listings | 6 months |
| Reports page (overview) | The last 30 days, with your own dates |
| Unsold stock | Your stock today (no period) |
The tax centre has its own This tax year and Last tax year switch.
Custom dates on the Reports page
The main Reports page has From and To date boxes, so you can choose any range for its profit over time and best sellers. Select Apply to update. The This tax year and Last tax year buttons fill in the dates for you.
The detailed reports do not take custom dates. Use their month ranges or tax years instead.
In the app
On the Money tab, period chips at the top choose This tax year, Last tax year, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. The profit and loss and net profit on that tab follow it, and reports you open from More reports start on the same period; you can change it inside each report. Expenses and mileage have their own chips.
The app's month ranges always end on the current month. To see an earlier range, use the website.
Tax years and quarters
- Your tax year start is set in your country and tax profile, filled in for your country. Only the owner can change it.
- In the UK, for example, the tax year starts in April, so This tax year does not match a calendar year.
- For a quarter, choose 3 months and set the month it ends on.
Tips
- Use Last tax year when you prepare your return, and export from there.
- Compare periods of the same length, such as two sets of 3 months, when you look for trends.
- Sales count on the date they sold; refunds on the date they were paid; expenses on the date paid; stock on the date bought (cash basis).
See Export reports for downloading a period, and the profit and loss for how each line is counted.
Questions people ask
When does my tax year start?
On the date in your country and tax profile. It is filled in for your country, and the owner can change it if your accounting year is different.
Can I choose any start and end date?
On the main Reports page, yes, with From and To. The detailed reports use fixed periods (3, 6 or 12 months, this tax year or last tax year), so their figures line up with your tax year.
How do I see a past quarter?
Choose 3 months and set the month it ends on, for example the last month of that quarter, then select Show.
Why does this tax year run past today?
The period covers the whole tax year. Sales and costs only appear up to today, so later months are simply empty.
Do exports use the same period?
Yes. Every export downloads the period you are looking at, and its file name says which period it is.
