Everything ProfitClerk does for eBay sellers
ProfitClerk reads your eBay orders, the fees eBay really charged and your postage labels, matches them to what your stock cost, and shows the profit on every sale. Here is everything it does, with a guide for each part.
Real eBay fees on every order
Final value fees, the per-order fee, regulatory and international fees, Promoted Listings and charity donations come from eBay's own finance records for each order, not from a rate card. When eBay credits a fee back, the order's profit changes with it.
Shop subscriptions and listing fees that belong to no order are counted too, so your profit and loss matches what eBay actually took.
- Every fee line, order by order
- Fee credits and refunds applied
- Fee credits and labels eBay may owe you, found for you
- VAT on eBay fees for VAT-registered sellers
- A fee report by type and month
Item costs: FIFO or average cost
Add what your stock cost you once and every sale picks up its item cost automatically, matched by SKU. No SKUs on your listings? Give each live eBay listing its cost in one step, or link it to stock you added when you bought it. Choose the cost method you report with: FIFO (first in, first out) or weighted average cost, and switch between the two on any page.
Sales with no item cost are flagged, so profit is never overstated without you knowing.
- FIFO and average cost side by side
- Matched by SKU, or by listing for one-off items
- Cost confidence: confirmed, estimated or missing
- Import your stock list or item costs from a spreadsheet
Postage labels and packaging
eBay Labels are read from eBay, including labels bought in bulk, which are shared out over the parcels they paid for. Labels from Royal Mail Click & Drop, ShipStation, Pirate Ship or any CSV can be imported in a few clicks.
Add a packaging cost per order and see postage charged against postage paid, so shipping never quietly eats your margin.
- eBay Labels, single and bulk
- Label imports from other carriers
- Packaging cost per order
- Return postage on refunds
Stock, job lots and sourcing
Keep your stock with what each item cost, restock it, and see its value at cost. Buy a job lot for one price and split it across its items by what each will sell for.
See which places you buy from pay best, which stock is not selling, how long items take to list and to sell, and write off stock that broke, went missing or was donated.
- Job lots split by resale value
- Low-stock warnings
- Sourcing report by where you bought
- Unsold stock by age
- Time to list and listed value
- Damaged, lost and donated stock written off
Profit and loss, breakdowns and best sellers
A profit and loss statement for any period or tax year, line by line. Break profit down by category, brand, label, eBay site or the country your buyers are in, find your best sellers and slow movers, and see what Promoted Listings really earned.
Every report exports to CSV and Excel for you or your accountant.
- Profit and loss by period or tax year
- Breakdowns by category, brand, label, site, buyer country
- Best sellers and slow movers
- Promoted Listings return
- A monthly profit goal
Refunds, returns and cancellations
Refunds come in from eBay with each order. Record what came back, whether it went back into stock or was a loss, and any return postage you paid, and the profit adjusts by itself.
- Full and partial refunds
- Back in stock or written off
- Return postage you paid
Expenses and mileage
Record the costs of running your business beyond stock and eBay fees: packaging supplies, software, equipment, with a photo of each receipt. Set repeating expenses once.
Log the miles you drive to buy stock or post parcels and see what they are worth at your country's official rate.
- Receipts from your phone's camera
- Repeating expenses
- Mileage at the official rate
A tax centre for your country
Set your country, currency and tax year once and every figure follows them. The tax centre fills in the numbers your country's forms ask for, tracks how close you are to registration thresholds and reminds you of deadlines.
VAT-registered sellers get VAT on sales and fees, including the VAT margin scheme for second-hand goods. US sellers can check their Form 1099-K against their eBay sales.
- Figures for your tax return
- Thresholds and deadlines
- VAT and the margin scheme
- Form 1099-K check
