It is your sales, not your profit
Thresholds count your taxable turnover: what your buyers pay you, before you take off what the stock cost or any fees. Second-hand sellers can reach them long before their profit looks big.
Check how close your sales are to your country's VAT or GST registration threshold, and at your current pace, when you would go over.
£62,000 of £90,000 · £28,000 to go
At your pace you reach it in about 6.2 months.
You must register for VAT if your taxable turnover goes over £90,000 in any 12-month period. Under the margin scheme the full selling price counts.

In the UK the threshold works on any rolling 12 months, so check every month, not just at your year end. Other countries use the calendar year, or last year and this year together, as the checker shows for each.
You must register within a set time (in the UK, 30 days after the end of the month you went over) and charge VAT from the date given. Registering late can mean paying the VAT you should have charged out of your own pocket.
The checker uses the threshold for the country you pick. In the UK it is £90,000 of taxable turnover in any rolling 12 months, or if you expect to go over it in the next 30 days alone.
