eBay connection and syncing
Is it safe to connect my eBay account?
Yes. ProfitClerk asks eBay for read-only access to your orders and financial transactions, and its sign-in tokens are stored encrypted. It never lists, edits, ends or reprices anything, and never changes your stock on eBay. See eBay permissions and security.
How do I connect eBay?
In Settings › Workspace & eBay, select Connect eBay and sign in on eBay's own page. In the app, go to More › eBay accounts. You need an active plan first. See Connect your eBay account.
How often do new sales come in?
Every 15 minutes, automatically. Sync now fetches them straight away. See How syncing with eBay works.
Can I see sales from before I joined?
Connecting brings in your recent orders. On plans that include it, the two-year import brings in the two years before. See The two-year eBay history import.
Can I connect more than one eBay account?
Yes, as many as your plan allows. Their sales share one workspace, and the Orders page can filter by account. See Connect more than one eBay account.
eBay asked me to sign in again. What do I do?
Open Settings and select Reconnect on that account. Missed orders, fees and refunds catch up on their own. See Reconnect an eBay account.
Profit and costs
How is my profit worked out?
Sale price, less eBay's fees, postage, the item's cost and any refund. Every order page shows the sum line by line. See How your profit is worked out.
Why does a sale show a profit that is too high?
Usually the item has no cost yet, so nothing is taken off for it. Add the cost and the profit updates. See Add missing item costs.
Should I use average cost or FIFO?
Both are supported, and you can switch any time to compare. See Average cost or FIFO.
How do I add a job lot?
Use Inventory › Buy a lot: enter what you paid once and ProfitClerk shares it across the items. See Job lots.
Where do eBay fees come from?
From eBay's own financial records for each order, not from an estimate. See eBay fees explained.
Are postage labels included?
Yes. eBay Labels costs come in automatically, including bulk purchases shared over their orders. Labels bought elsewhere can be imported or typed in. See eBay Labels bought in bulk.
My numbers still look wrong. What can I check?
Missing item costs, estimated label costs and fees still on their way are the usual causes. See My profit looks wrong.
Money and tax
Can I track expenses besides stock?
Yes. Record packaging, storage, software and more, with receipts, and log business mileage. See Expenses.
Does ProfitClerk do my tax return?
No. It prepares figures such as a profit and loss statement and VAT or GST totals for you or your accountant. See Profit and loss.
Does it work with my accounting software?
It can post each eBay payout to Xero, QuickBooks Online or FreeAgent. See Accounting software.
Plans and billing
Is there a free trial?
No. Try ProfitClerk with the one-time Try pass, or choose a monthly or yearly plan. See Plans and what each one includes.
What happens if my plan ends?
Your workspace becomes read-only: every figure stays, but nothing syncs or changes until you choose a plan again. See Read-only without a plan.
I need more eBay accounts or orders than my plan allows.
Move to a bigger plan, or contact us about higher limits. See More eBay accounts or higher limits.
Account, team and app
Is there a mobile app?
Yes, for iPhone and Android, sharing your workspace with the website. See Get the ProfitClerk app.
Can someone help me run my shop?
Invite team members as a manager or a viewer, within your plan's team seats. See Team members and roles.
How do I protect my account?
Turn on two-step sign-in, so a code from an authenticator app is needed as well as your password. See Two-step sign-in.
Still stuck? Select Contact us at the bottom of the help centre or the website, or More › Contact support in the app.
